At the beginning of the year, as Leo Club, we did not really know each other. As a result we had a team-building course in order to interact with one another. This was held on the 14th of January 2007. Then on the 24th of February our Leo District President, Leo Melusi, and Chair Person, Leo Chris, gave us an informative meeting on their recent visits around the country and a brief enlighten on their duties. They also told us the origins of the 1st Leo Club that was founded in Chicago 1917. He encouraged us to work as a TEAM and strive for excellence.

We had various fundraising activities to enable us to kick start the year. At the boys' school we managed to sell Borewors rolls, at the girls' school we had donught and hamburger sales, which racked in reasonable profits. We were able to fund the tuck shops, which were held at various sporting events like the rugby and athletics.

In the second term we held a soccer and hockey tournament. There was a very good attendance. Later during the term we organized a Basketball tournament. At both tournaments we had a tuck shop, and at the Basketball tournament we had a braai. Both these events raised sufficient earnings for us to progress as a club.

We visited a number of places namely Nyameni, Ida weKwako and Kukura ne Shungu. Our motto "WE SERVE" was put into play. With the money we raised we managed to supply Ida Wekwako with 9.5 liters of cooking oil, 34 bars of soap, 30 Kilograms of mealie meal. To Nyameni Orphanage we donated 54 shirts, 6 sweaters and 3 dresses. to Kukura NeShungu we donated 12 liters of cooking oil and 60 kilograms of sugar. To all three we gave smiles and created friendships. During the year we discovered one of the maids had ulcers and was in desperate need of medication we sponsored her visit to the doctor and the medication she required.

The highlight of Leo Club 2007 was the induction lunch. The Rector, Mr. Calderwood, who gave an inspirational speech on "Servant Leadership", addressed us and Leo Chris inducted us as the Leo Club of 2007. Besides good food and laughter, we all decided to pursue the advice Mr. Calderwood gave us.

Thank you.
Leo Vanessa Changa
Twinning Officer of Peterhouse
