About Region Chairperson
Leo Chris Bvunzawabaya Club is from Harare West, Region: 2 Joined the Leo Club program in the leoistic year as a member of Leo Club of Chiredzi in the 1998-1999 to 20001-2002 then moved to Harare were I joined the Leo Club of Harare West in the leoistic year 2002-2003

Introduction

The Leoistic year 2006- 2007 was a difficult and momentous one for the Region 2; difficult bacause of an extremely challenging economic environment that saw inflation averaging 1033% and momentous with the revival of the region.
It is pleasing to note that the revival of our region has proceeded smoothly and the results at Region 2 have been particulary pleasing with the being turned around in a relatively short space of time from my appointment of Region 2 Chairperson at the beginning of the year.
It is indeed remarkable that all these achievements by the Region were made against the background of a deteriorating and challenging macro economic environment, proved to be a very challenging period for most Zimbabweans.

State of the Region

Region 2 is made up of 12 clubs namely Harare West, Kutama, Peterhouse, Hillcrest, Nyamawuru, Dangamvura, Nyanga, Christe Mambo, St Faiths, St Mary's Magdalene,, Chemukute
In addition to old clubs namely Harare West, Kutama, Peterhouse, Nyanga, St Faiths, Mary's, Peterhouse the revival of Chemukute we officially welcomed Dangamvura, Hillcrest, Nyamawuru and Christe Mambo who are yet to get a sponsor.

Twinning

The region through its region chair has twinned with region all the other regions especially region 2, 3 and 4. Helped in the revival of Bulawayo Omega by introducing former alpha leos to the region chair. However twinning with region 1 and 5 proved dificult to get hold of the chairpersons.

Club Visits

I conducted a very successful orientation seminar held on the 20th of September at Scouts Hall which was well attended by Dangamvura leos and graced by Mutare the Mountain Dew Lions Club members where i chronicled on the history of the Leo Club Program

On the 21st of September 2006 i had an opportunity to visit Mutare Agricultural Show were I met members of the Mutare Lions Club and Mutare the Mountain Dew who were on duty, fellowship with them.
Ivisited Hillcrest and Dangamvura Leos on the 23 of February 2007 in the company of the District President during his club visits

I Had the opportunity to visit Peterhouse Leos on 24 february 2007 once again in the company of the LDP.
I Visited the Leo club of Chiredzi in March 2007

D412 Zone C Leadership Workshop

I attended the Lions District 412 Zone C Leadership Workshop held Gowans Club in Harare in December 2006 where i had an honour of meeting the District Governor Lion Major Kebbie Konie, Vice District Governor Lion Ray Sibanda, District Cabinet Secretary Lion Frances M Sherpherd- Palmer, it was a once in a life to me opportunity to learn on leadership. We were presented with certificates of attendances.
District Governor Club Visit

The District Governor Lion Major Kebby Konie visited the Leo Club of Harare West and the Leo Club of Harare West at a function held at Crowne Plaza, Monomotapa hotel. It was an eye opening occassion where we had a one- on- one encounter with the district governor. We were presented with the governor's banner and pins

District 412 1st Council Meeting

A very successful 1st Council Meeting was hosted by the Leo Club of Harare West in August which was held at Harare Institute of Technology. In attendance were Leos from Chiredzi,
Redcliff, Solusi, Peterhouse, St Faiths, Nyanga, Dangamvura. The meeting was graced by Lion Pat Mapanda, Lion Cynthia Maweni and Lion Tofara Nyamwena. Leos interacted and shared ideas with the main highlight being the social held at the end of the day which raised a substantive amount that boosted the District 412 board's dry coffers as all members left with smiles.

Communication
Communication has greatly improved with the whole region always the first with the news within the region, however there are some hitches which can be delt with by the end of the year
Public Relations

The level of publicity was commendable in the region with activities among them the Sight First Commemorations aired on both Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Television and Radio News
District Dues

Payment of district dues by most clubs continue to be a thorn in the flesh maily because of lack of communication to the clubs by the respective authorities given the mandate to run the affairs of the district treasury. To this end most clubs are not in good standing as traditionally they get communation from the treasurer therefore opted to go by tradition, unfortunately no one communicated to them.

Appreciation
On behalf of the region i wish to acknowledge the contributions of various stakeholders for the Region's perfomance in the year under review. It has taken tremendous effort and commitment on my part to steer the region's clubs to post excellent results during an exciting period of revival against the background of a difficult economic environment characterised by unprecedented challenges. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to my fellow District Board members, Region 2 Leo Clubs, Leos, Patrons and Leo advisors for their commendable perfomance under these challenging circumstances. I have no doubt in my mind that the team work and commitment within the region will continue to deliver good results in the Leoistic Year 2006-2007 and beyond.
