FINAL REPORT FOR THE PETERHOUSE ALPHA LEO CLUB

FINAL REPORT FOR THE ALPHA LEO
CLUB OF PETERHOUSE 2006

The Alpha Leo Club of Peterhouse has been invovled in numerous activities over the past year in order to raise money to assist the Marondera community, as well as to try and bring joy into the lives of the less fortunate.
The club started off by announcing nine new board memebers as well as welcoming the other fifteen members. They were then inducted in by the Leos form Harare West at a successful induction dinner held at Peterhouse on the 17th of June.
The Leo Club would meet every two weeks to discuss upcoming events as well as the plans for various visits. The year began with the club holding Z$80 000 and, bu October the Charity account contained Z$120000(revalued currency) as most of the money had been used to fund various charity events, whilst the administaration account held Z$1200(revalued currency). Once every two weeks they visited places in the community with the less fortunate, the sick and the old. The visited Marondera Hospital on the 20th of Febuary and spent time with the sick children. They also visited Kukura Neshungu, an institute for mentally and in some cases physically handicapped children. At borrodaile Trust, which the club visited occasionally, the club was able to sit and chat with the residents, while they ate the cakes the club had bought for them. The members also got a chance to lose themselves and play with the children of Nyameni Orphanage.
During the course of the year, the club took part in many fundraising activities. They ran tuckshops at various major sporting events as well as carrying out numerous raffles. At the beginning of the year, they held a Leo Club Joke Competition for both Peterhouse schools, which proved to be a great success, as they were able to but thirty blankets using the money they had raised, which they donated to Nyameni Orphanage. Soccer and Basketball tournaments were also held in which sufficient money was raised to fund other club activities. The club had planned to have a Leo Fun Day but, unfortunatly the project had to be prematurly ended due to lack of adequate funds. Using some of the money raised, the club was able to help a women named Mrs Mapfumo, a wife of one of the hired help at Peterhouse, who had been run over by a bus. They were able to raise enough money to buy her a new leg brace to replace the old one which had worn out.
Throughout the year, the club twinned with Nyanga High School, who the invited them to a workshop which was held on the 15th of September, but unfortunatly the Alpha Leo Club of Peterhouse was unable to attend .
In conclussion, the Leo Club would like to request for Leo badges or details on how these may be obtained.

Many Thanks
